Our story
From a single classroom to 180+ villages
The Village Roots was born under a neem tree in 2014 — with five children, two volunteers and a borrowed slate.

Our journey
What began as informal evening classes in a single Rajasthani hamlet has grown into a network of learning circles, mobile health camps and women-led education committees across 180+ villages. Every step has been walked alongside the communities we serve.
We do not parachute in. We move in, listen, and build with what is already there: the courage of mothers, the curiosity of children, the wisdom of elders.
Vision
A rural India where no child is forced to choose between learning and surviving.
Mission
Provide education, learning materials and basic healthcare to underprivileged communities.
Values
Dignity, transparency, locally-led action, and the belief that every child is whole.
Founder's note
"The roots are already there. We just water them."
I grew up walking 7 km to a school that had no teacher. The Village Roots exists so the next child does not have to make that walk alone. Every notebook we give is a promise — that someone, somewhere, sees them.
